by
Nicola Amis

Sunday 29th July 2017 sees the second Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 as part of the Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling.

Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside. With leg-testing climbs and a route made famous by the world’s best cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics, it's a truly spectacular event for all involved. The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 finishes on The Mall in central London.

Neil Barrall, MD and Sam Diamond, Director at Telecoms World, will be participating in the event to raise money for Prostate Cancer Research Centre; a charity which invests in the most innovative, bold research that targets the way prostate cancer is diagnosed, treated or even prevented.

Prostate cancer can develop when cells in the prostate start to grow in an uncontrolled way. Prostate cancer often grows slowly to start with and may never cause any problems. But some men have prostate cancer that is more likely to spread. This needs treatment to stop it spreading outside the prostate. Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, they will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

In memory and support of many people close to our hearts who have encountered this terrible disease, staff at Telecoms World will been supporting Neil Barrall in his hopes of raising at least £750 for the charity.

Neil is a veteran cyclists and has already raised a fantastic amount of money for various charities in cycling events. He will start at 08.48am on 29th July and hopes to complete the course in 7 hours; an average of 14.3mph.

We wish him the best of luck and hope he has a great time whilst raising money for a fantastic cause. Any additional donations would be gratefully received on Neil's sponsorship page: http://twplc.co/fundraising

**** UPDATE 30th July 2018 ****

Congratulations to Neil and Sam for completing the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 in 7hrs 5mins! Bang on target! It was tough going in the wind and rain at times but, the support of the crowd and the occassional energy bar helped them through to complete the full 100 miles. Their fantastic achievement has also raised over £1000 so far for Prostate Cancer Research Centre - more than double their original target.
